We wanted to give you an update, John.
Last week, we let you know that Senate Bill 224, a bill to set the Pennsylvania 2024 presidential Primary date, passed out of the PA House State Government Committee, allowing it to be brought up for a full House Floor vote.
This bill included an amendment requiring voters to show proof of identification every time they cast a ballot in person. Creating a BARRIER to voting – something NPP actively fights against every single day.
However, thanks to your support, the House voted down SB 224 with the attached Voter ID amendment. The House then PASSED HB 1634, which would move the Primary date from April 23 as it stands now to April 2. This is a clean bill with no amendments and was passed along party lines. It will now go to the Senate to be considered.
We are absolutely thrilled that the clean version of this bill is moving forward. The proposed anti-voter amendment would have been devastating for our democracy, and thanks to you, it was defeated.
As we near Election Day and the critical 2024 elections, attacks on our democracy will only increase. Will you help us fight back against future attacks by donating $25 or more now? →
