[ [link removed] ]Ilhan for Congress

I’m the first Somali-American congresswoman, the first non-white woman to represent Minnesota, and one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress. That’s a lot of firsts – but making history hasn’t been easy.

My story is a product of the American Dream. My family and I escaped the Somali Civil War, and I arrived in the United States at the age of 12. Minnesota embraced us with open arms, and my love for politics began as I interpreted Democratic caucus meetings for my grandfather.

It was a dream come true being elected to Congress in 2018. Minnesotans had my family’s back throughout my entire life, and now I was determined to have theirs. But, this accomplishment was quickly met with the sting of racist insults and attacks made by some of my Republican colleagues.

Racism shouldn’t be acceptable anywhere, let alone in our nation’s top governing body.

That’s why I’m asking for you to support Rolling Sea Action Fund, a new organization working to inform and mobilize Black voters of all backgrounds, as well as unseating racist Republicans from Congress and replacing them with leaders who will fight for progressive ideas that align with OUR values.

If you’re with us, and you’re ready to help elect more Black leaders that we can count on, then please chip in a split donation between our campaign and Rolling Sea Action Fund before the mid-month deadline to help them power this movement.

Every dollar they raise will go towards year-round political investment and organizing in Black communities. It’s time to fight to empower Black voters, because we are the backbone of the Democratic Party.

Thank you for your support.
