Folks,
Last month, President Biden announced the creation of the first-ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention to combat the epidemic that is tearing our families, our communities, and our country apart.
This is a huge step forward -- one that is a testament to Joe Biden’s leadership.
Let me tell you: Joe Biden cares about this issue in his bones. He has been a leader on fighting gun violence his entire career because he knows how devastating it is to the families who have experienced the worst loss.
And he knows what families like yours and mine are going through. Our kids are forced to perversely practice for protecting themselves during mass shootings -- a trauma in and of itself. This is something we don’t have to accept in our daily lives.
That’s why Joe Biden worked relentlessly to help us pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun violence reduction legislation to pass Congress in nearly 30 years. This law funds red flag laws, narrows the “boyfriend loophole,” requires young people under 21 to undergo enhanced background checks, makes gun trafficking and straw purchasing federal crimes, and provides funding to address the youth mental health crisis.
The Office of Gun Violence Prevention will be key to carrying out this historic piece of legislation.
But our work is just getting started.
To continue building on the progress we’ve made, we must reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to keep leading our country forward.
Will you make a $25 donation to Joe’s reelection campaign now? Together, we can build a future we’re proud of.
