John, look at the headlines we’ve seen recently:

Florida redistricting trial: Expert claims DeSantis' role broke norms
➡️ A federal court challenge to Florida's congressional map featured expert testimony, alleging Gov. DeSantis intervened with racial bias in the Legislature's mapmaking.
WTSP
Federal trial set to resume in Florida congressional redistricting case
➡️ The lawsuit says the maps that were drawn in 2022 and were used in the midterm elections helped Republicans.
Newsweek
Ron DeSantis poised for huge blow if Florida election map redrawn
➡️ In a federal trial, DeSantis is accused of intentionally racially discriminating against Black voters by endorsing a congressional map last year which helped the GOP win four seats.
First,
Ron DeSantis didn’t approve of maps that fairly gave Black voters representation in their districts.
Then,
He split a congressional district with a Black lawmaker into two, an even more extreme move as a denial of fair representation. This took away a district that previously gave Black voters an opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice, and instead split their voices across two districts in an effort to drown out their voices.
Now,
DeSantis is being accused in court, and legal experts, judges, and constituents will take a closer look at his racial bias.
As we see similar situations happening in not only Florida but also states like Louisiana and Alabama, we see why we must continue to fight for our democracy. When we see politicians continuously trying to undermine Black voters, we won’t turn a blind eye. Fair maps are for all, and under-representation isn’t an answer we will take.
