Supreme Court to examine CFPB constitutionally today; NAFCU to attend oral arguments [ [link removed] ]
The U.S. Supreme Court will hold oral arguments today in a case brought by Seila Law against the CFPB that challenges the agency's single-director structure. NAFCU has long held that the CFPB's leadership structure should be reformed to a commission-based model to ensure transparency and accountability.
NAFCU meets with FCC to further address call blocking concerns [ [link removed] ]
Members of NAFCU's Regulatory Affairs team joined a coalition of other organizations yesterday for a meeting with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to discuss the Declaratory Ruling and Notice made in June 2019 to allow call blocking and implement a new caller identification framework known as SHAKEN/STIR, as well as the implementation of the TRACED Act.

The Supreme Court Monday vacated a previous decision ruling plaintiffs can no longer rely on the Eleventh Circuit Court's decision in City of Miami v. Wells Fargo & Co as a source of support in similar cases. The City of Miami last month filed the Suggestion of Mootness following its voluntarily dismissal of pending lawsuits against Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, and JPMorgan Chase related to discriminatory practices under the Fair Housing Act.
