Jack, while a temporary deal was reached to avert a government shutdown in October, Congress only has until November 17 to pass yet another funding bill–or the government will shut down.

The outlook doesn't look good: Instead of working on a practical long-term solution, House Republicans like Jim Jordan are already threatening to hold the country hostage over absurd partisan demands.

A shutdown would result in furloughs for federal workers deemed nonessential. Essential workers would be forced to work without pay. Programs like the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) would be paused, upending vital support for low-income families. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, military spending, veterans’ benefits, public health, federal law enforcement, federal interest payments, and more could also be at risk.

Congress had months to fund the government and didn't. We will not stand for Americans to pay for failures of Republican "leadership." Sign the petition to urge House members to find a long-term solution.
