In 1852, he disagreed with many of his fellow abolitionists. Not on slavery, of course, but they're trashing the Constitution. And he says to them, why are you trashing the Constitution? The Constitution doesn't perpetuate slavery. It's the greatest governing document on the face of the earth. We need virtuous people to administer the Constitution. That's what we need. And that sounds to me a lot like you.”
