Forum Discussion Topic: Editing of reviewer comments
COPE Forum
Friday 6 March 2020
Our March Forum will follow the usual format where we have a discussion topic, followed by members' cases presented for discussion and advice from all those participating in the Forum.
With examples of possible problematic reviews or circumstances for which some editors might consider whether to edit or quash the review, we discuss whether there are any circumstances in which it is acceptable for an editor to change the content of a peer review.
Is it ever acceptable for an editor to change the content of a peer review or to quash it altogether?
If so, under what circumstances would this be acceptable?
If not, why not?
We've already received some comments on the discussion topic on our website.
