Democrats,
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Bushra Elfarissi, Digital Director for the Democratic Party of New Mexico. Last week, I embarked on several trips to rural New Mexico counties, getting to know rural Democrats and learning their issues, while also sharing DPNM’s plans for our upcoming election cycle. I was able to collaborate alongside the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s Veterans’ Caucus, Fuerzas Unidas Caucus, Rural Caucus, and Native American Caucus to exchange ideas and spread the word about Democrats’ efforts to New Mexicans in even the furthest corners of the state. I had a blast, and I’m looking forward to future meetings! Check out some photos from our meetings:

Although I had a good time simultaneously learning and teaching, I learned a harsh truth: New Mexico’s rural communities often feel overlooked and unheard, which leads to voter apathy during key elections and low Democratic turnout. I really got to understand at a higher capacity the importance of representing our state’s rural communities, especially considering the role they play in sustaining our state’s agricultural success. And right now unfortunately, several rural counties in New Mexico don’t even have county-level Democratic Party organizations! So I’m making the call to step up our infrastructure and outreach efforts.
That’s where you come in. Working at the Party, I see firsthand the extent to which resources are needed in order to sustain our outreach efforts and build up our support– and we need your help to underpin our efforts. Can I count on you to support our efforts to amp up our rural outreach in New Mexico?
