// A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO

Spread the Word:
It’s Give to
Women and Girls Day

Dear Colleague,

Today marks the second annual Give to Women and Girls Day. As one of the Women’s Philanthropy Institute’s anchor partners in this campaign, we invite you to join us as we spread the word today to our larger networks. You can learn more about Give to Women and Girls Day and find toolkits for fundraising here.

WPI has found that while nearly 50,000 U.S. organizations are dedicated to women and girls, less than 2% of all philanthropic support goes to these organizations. We know that women, girls, and gender nonconforming people deserve more.

What if people understood that for about the price of a gallon of milk each week, we could change the trajectory of gender equity in the U.S.?

Increasing from the existing 2% to our goal of 10% annual investment in women and girls would cost $4.88 per person, per week. About $5 a week is doable. And it would make meaningful change. It thrills me to think about how much more of an impact we could make with resources that matched our community’s efforts.

It’s paramount that we increase funding for women’s and girls’ organizations if we’re going to create a more just, equitable, and sustainable world. Your work deserves more funding. Let’s make #GiveToWomenAndGirls trend online today and start a conversation that translates into more dollars donated.

In Solidarity,

Elizabeth Barajas-Román
