With just over a month until Election Day, ACLU organizers and activists across Ohio and our friends at Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights are hard at work getting out the vote to make sure every Ohioan knows what’s at stake with Issue 1 — an amendment that would end the state’s extreme abortion ban.
Decisions around pregnancy, including abortion, birth control, and miscarriage care, are personal and private and should be left up to individual Ohioans and their families. Right now in Ohio, extreme politicians have passed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country — a law that bans abortion before many people even know they’re pregnant, even in cases of rape and incest, and threatens patients’ lives.
Issue 1 is about making sure Ohioans — not the government — have the power to make personal decisions during pregnancy, including abortion. Voting Yes on Issue 1 puts Ohioans back in charge of their own personal medical decisions, and we need your help to make sure Ohio voters know what’s at stake and how we can protect essential reproductive health care on November 7.
