Hi John,
The Texas Senate is yet again trying to defund our public schools by bringing back the same voucher scheme that failed during the Regular Legislative Session. Senate Bill 1 would allocate $8,000 of community funds to pay for private schools and other educational expenses, diverting much-needed taxpayer money from our public schools that provide services to millions of Texas students.
John, we're working with coalition partners on a petition urging our legislators to reject SB 1 and any other voucher scheme that would harm students in public schools. Will you help us reach our goal of 1,000 signatures? Sign by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, so that we can deliver the petition to the Capitol on Wednesday morning! [[link removed]]

And then share it with a friend who supports public education! ✊🏼
Public schools accept all students, regardless of who they are or their background. But voucher schemes divert public tax dollars to private and religious schools that can deny admission or educational services to any student, including students with disabilities, students from different religious faiths, or students or parents who are LGBTQIA+. Legislators must not allow private schools to discriminate while taking our tax dollars.
Tell our legislators that they have the responsibility to fully fund our neighborhood public schools for students [[link removed]] , not subsidize tuition for wealthy families at exclusive private and religious schools that pick and choose who they will enroll.
In the fight,
