The Biden Administration continues to ignore the full-blown crisis taking place at our southern border. This border crisis falls directly at the feet of Joe Biden. In his first 100 days in office, he issued more than 90 executive actions on immigration, hampering the ability of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to properly address illegal border crossings. 

These policies have allowed over 5.8 million illegal alien encounters at the southern border in addition to nearly 1.5 million known got-aways. The numbers are off the charts and unsustainable. When calculating the financial burden of illegal immigration on the American taxpayer, estimates range from $150.7 billion to nearly $200 billion annually. State and local governments are struggling to address the onslaught of illegal immigrants flooding their communities and have little recourse or support from the federal government. 

In the first ten months of this year alone, more than 146 people on the terrorist watch list were apprehended at our southern border. Unvetted people from all over the world are entering our country illegally. Border security is national security, and we must put an end to Biden’s reckless policies allowing this to take place. House Republicans have already passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, which is the strongest border security legislation in history. This legislation focuses on securing the border, preventing illegal activity at our southern border, and stopping the flow of illicit fentanyl across the border. It’s past time that the Senate and President act and consider H.R. 2.
