Have you heard of scam PACs?
They’re political action committees that raise money under the pretense of
supporting certain causes or candidates, but then spend most or all of the
money they raise on “consultants” instead.
They’re a shameful way to make a quick buck—and Katie introduced a bill to
crack down on them.
Politics shouldn’t be a get-rich-quick scheme for consultants with no
morals or conscience. When you donate to a political organization, you
should be able to expect that your money will go to supporting the
candidates or causes that you intend to support.
Scam PACs are also some of the worst offenders when it comes to some of
the more unscrupulous fundraising tactics: Things marked with “Warning:
Payment Incomplete” to scare people into donating under false pretenses.
Or fundraising appeals that promise your contribution will be “400%
matched” when no such match exists.
As a consumer protection attorney, Katie has despised these tactics for a
long time. It’s why she’s always insisted that our email program be among
the most ethical in politics, and why she introduced legislation to
finally crack down on these scammers.

scams, will you pitch in $5 or any amount today to help send
her to the Senate?
