When Stephen Harper and Pierre Poilievre wanted to increase the retirement age from 65 to 67 – Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team said no. We reversed that reckless Conservative policy and we took real action to ensure Canada’s seniors could retire comfortably after a lifetime of hard work.
Together, we’re helping seniors by:
Increasing the Old Age Security (OAS) pension by 10% for all seniors aged 75+
Creating the Age Well at Home initiative to help low-income and vulnerable seniors live at home for as long as possible
Boosting the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) by 10% for individual seniors
Investing in the New Horizons for Seniors Program that allows seniors to age in place while preserving their independence
Increasing the Canada and Quebec Pension Plan’s maximum yearly benefit by nearly 50%
Decreasing the poverty rate among seniors by 20%
