Green Party reaffirms commitment to running a strong presidential
campaign
The Steering Committee of the Green Party of the United
States (GPUS) is surprised to learn of Dr. West’s decision to no
longer seek the Green Party Presidential Nomination and to run as an
independent. On behalf of the Green Party of the US, we thank Dr. West
for his strong consideration towards running as a Green. We deeply
appreciate the significant resources that the West campaign has
already invested toward securing our party’s ballot lines in several
states.

Support the UAW Strike!
The Illinois Green Party encourages
it’s members to support the United Auto Workers in their current strike
against the three major automakers; Ford, GM, and Stellantis. The
Green Party has been a strong supporter of labor and unions for its
entire existence. Our members are working class activists and we hope
to see them joining the workers in solidarity on the picket lines in
Illinois or neighboring states or otherwise offering support however
they are able.

There's No Freedom In Silence: Stand Up, Speak Out!
The Missouri Green Party recently
hosted a webinar that called for solidarity with the African People's Socialist Party
against the military-style FBI attacks, economic sanctions, and bogus
charges of being "Russian agents." Discussions included how the Uhuru
Movement is being targeted by the U.S. government, why it is
imperative that the Green Party and other freedom-loving people defend
the right to free speech of all those persecuted, from the "Uhuru 3"
to Cop-City protesters and Julian Assange – and how we can take action
in this historic fight.

Green Party Says Huge Numbers at NYC Climate March Highlights the
Need for Faster and Stronger Action, Including an Ecosocialist Green
New Deal
The
Green Party, which first began calling in 2010, is
heartened to see such widespread support for a Green New Deal (GND)
among the estimated 75,000 people who marched
on Sunday to demand faster climate action from President
Biden. For Greens the most important response to global warming
would be the rapid and full halt to fossil fuel emissions and welcomed
the call by more than 600 groups to demand much swifter action
against the use of fossil fuels from The Biden
administration.

Candidate News
Green incumbent Ed
Williamson re-elected
"Health care is a right, not a privilege."
That principle, enshrined in the Green Party of the United States
platform,
guided Missouri Green Ed Williamson in his first four-year term of
office on the Texas County Health Department (TCHD) Board of Trustees
in rural southern Missouri — and led to his re-election on April 4,
2023.
Williamson was first elected to TCHD Board in 2019. An associate
professor of education and child development at Drury University in
Southern Missouri since 1999, and minister of the Bendavis Church of
Christ in western Texas County since 1985, Williamson has deep roots
in the community – and that's been reflected in his understanding of
local health care issues.

Sean Dougherty for Congress
I'm not running with a major party. I was a Democrat until a few
years ago, but I came to the conclusion that real change, particularly
at the Federal level, isn't possible within the two major parties.
These parties are owned by the very corporations and billionaires that
are making money from the destruction of ecosystems, perpetuation of
wars, and exploitation of people. If we're going to bring sanity to
our nation, we're going to have to do so outside of those parties.
We can end the wars and take aggressive climate action. We can
provide our people homes, healthcare, and education. But to do so, we
must reject corporate control. With your support, I believe we've got
a shot at taking on the incumbent. Please join me in fighting for a
real democracy controlled by the people and for the people, not the
corporations.
