Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Ranking Member James Risch (R-ID) are circulating a pro-Israel resolution that:
- Condemns Hamas’ brutal war on Israel.
- Stands with Israel and “reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense.”
- “Reaffirms the United States’ commitment to Israel's security” and “stands ready to assist Israel with emergency resupply and other security, diplomatic, and intelligence support.”
- “Calls on the United States to lead an international effort, including through sanctions, to deprive Hamas of Iranian and other sources of funding and lethal assistance.”
The resolution is expected to be introduced soon and we are urging all senators to sign on now as original cosponsors.

Background
- More than 1,200 Israelis have now been confirmed killed and more than 3,000 wounded in the ongoing and abhorrent terror attack.
- At least 22 Americans are confirmed dead. An unknown number of Americans are among the 100-150 people held hostage in Gaza.
- Israel is striking key sites in Gaza and is expected to conduct a sustained and large-scale ground operation to destroy Hamas.
- Reports of rockets and attempted infiltrations continue from both Gaza and Lebanon.
- 360,000 Israeli reservists have been called up — the largest number in Israel’s history.
