BREAKING: Republican supermajority in state legislature overrides Governor’s veto of two election bills — threatening voting rights in NC

Yesterday, the radical GOP supermajority in the state legislature voted to overturn Governor Cooper’s vetoes of their dangerous, anti-voter bills.

The GOP legislation damages our democracy. Point blank. Among other voter suppression tactics, it shortens the window for mail-in ballot returns and restructures the way our election boards are run to promote gridlock and sow confusion. The legislation has the potential to destroy early voting in North Carolina.

Here’s the bottom line: Republicans in North Carolina know they can’t win by playing fair. They want more voters to stay home to make it easier for their candidates to win.

That means we need to be ready to fight harder, reach even more voters, and win decisively next year. That takes resources.
