Support LGBTQ Youth For #SpiritDay.

No one should have to grow up with a target on their backs.
If we stand together, we can create a world where no one has to. Please join us in supporting LGBTQ youth during National Bullying Prevention Month by taking two simple actions:
One: pledge to have their backs on Spirit Day, and every day. Add your name to help us reach 10,000 signatures by October 19th. And two: help us reach our goal of $25,000 to support LGBTQ youth, increase representation, and create safe spaces online.
The rapid rise in anti-LGBTQ violence and discrimination has put vulnerable LGBTQ youth at high risk: 76% reported verbal harassment, 72% have heard homophobic remarks from teachers and/or school staff, and one in four have been threatened with or experienced physical harm.
GLAAD is responding by doing what we do best — taking this fight to the media and everywhere we have influence. By donating today, you'll be helping us put a three-pronged strategy into place:
- Bringing attention to LGBTQ youth speaking out and up for themselves
- Ensuring LGBTQ youth are authentically represented in the media
- Holding the haters accountable by tackling LGBTQ discrimination online

This Spirit Day,
put bullies on notice.

For every book ban, bathroom ban, sports team ban... for every slur, hate crime, and vicious social media post... for every LGBTQ young person out there who just wants to be accepted and loved for who they are… let's prove that we're all on their side.
Please give today to stand up for LGBTQ youth — and don't forget to sign our pledge to let them know we have their backs.
Thank you,

P.S. There's one more simple — but very impactful — thing you can do for LGBTQ youth: wear purple for Spirit Day on October 19th. Go purple to show LGBTQ youth that you're standing with them.
