Pheasant and quail season opens Oct. 28
Are you ready? Pheasant, quail and partridge season opens statewide on Oct. 28, and runs through the end of January. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy Nebraska's upland hunting tradition. There is still time to buy a permit and plan a great hunt; see the Public Access Atlas to find a place to hunt near you.

Firearm deer permits still available
If you haven't yet purchased a permit for firearm deer season, you still can, as permits in several units still remain. Be aware that nonresident permits are very close to being sold out, so hurry before they're gone. Mark your calendar for the 2023 firearm deer season on Nov. 11-19 and plan to be there!

The 2023-2024 Tall Stubble Guide has arrived! This guide features an additional 35,000 acres of tall wheat and milo stubble fields and adjacent habitat that are open to public hunting. Tall stubble sites are scattered across western Nebraska and provide habitat for pheasants and other wildlife. View the atlas online.

Waterfowl hunters, be wary of invasive species
As waterfowl hunting season ramps up, Nebraskans are urged to check boats, boat lifts and docks for invasive species when removing them from the water. We encourage you to take special care prior to launching your boat to avoid contributing to the spread of zebra mussels or aquatic invasive plants.
