Indivisibles,
What a weekend! Watching the last few days of news, from the South
Carolina primary to three presidential candidates suspending their
campaigns to ever-expanding coverage of how important this year’s Senate
races are, it’s hard not to feel that we’re rocketing towards election
day, with ever-changing information, at breakneck speeds.
With the constant changes, we've been getting a lot of questions about the
presidential candidates, and we have something to share in advance of
tomorrow. As the facts lay, former Vice President Joe Biden and Mike
Bloomberg are the furthest aligned from our movement's values and have not
shown themselves to be candidates especially concerned with engaging our,
or any, grassroots movements. For a more in-depth analysis, [ [link removed] ]check out
our new Medium post on how these candidates are ignoring and resisting the
grassroots.
But the Democratic nomination is far from the only race we're watching.
Realtalk: If we want to see real change next year, we've got to win the
White House, keep the House, and take the Senate. That's where Payback
Project comes in. As you know, we're spending a lot of energy on defeating
these 10 Trump enablers to pay them back for all the votes they've taken
to support Trump's agenda (that's a LOT of votes).
Let's talk updates. Since we wrote to you last week, we've more than
doubled the number of voters we've talked to through our texting program
to nearly 540,000 Arizonans, Coloradans, and Georgians to hold Senators
McSally, Gardner, Perdue, and Loeffler accountable for their
Trump-enabling votes. That matters because we're plugging folks in these
states directly into Indivisible groups on the ground who are going to be
knocking doors, making calls, and texting to defeat them this November.
This is all so exciting to us so we have to keep it up! We’re also coming
up with new and exciting ways to get involved. And now, let’s get to those
to-dos:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your weekly to-dos
1. [ [link removed] ]Demand your member of Congress Address the Coronavirus Outbreak.
Trump and Congressional Republicans are already trying to twist the
coronavirus outbreak for their political gain. We need to stand up to
their tactics and ensure desperately needed resources are sent to the
necessary places. Call your members of Congress and tell them: 1)
Don’t let coronavirus response funds get used for anything other than
coronavirus response (in other words, prohibit transfers for these
funds), 2) Don’t include any “riders” that aren’t related to
coronavirus response, and 3) Make sure that any vaccines or treatments
for coronavirus are affordable and accessible for everyone.
2. [ [link removed] ]Get involved in the fight for Medicare for All on March 4 at 8 PM
ET. Our friends at Public Citizen have invited Indivisible Organizer
Tify Burks, along with Congressional champion Rashida Tlaib, to share
insights about how to organize locally to keep up the momentum from
the primaries for Medicare for All in your community. Make sure to
[ [link removed] ]RSVP to learn more from the activists and policymakers who pushed
local resolutions across the finish line, and to get organizing
updates from across the country.
3. [ [link removed] ]Register for the National Activist Call on March 5th at 8 pm ET The
National Activist Call is a monthly space for Indivisible leaders,
members and other activists to hear updates and connect with one
another. This month we’ll be debriefing the Super Tuesday results,
sharing updates about the Payback Project and will hear from a local
group leader in Arizona. Don’t forget to register and share the
registration with other Indivisible Activists!
5. Text PAYBACK to 977-79 and join this fight right now. Even in the
three weeks since we launched this project, we’ve already seen twists
and turns and had to drop everything to respond to new Republican
schemes. We know that’s not going to stop, which is why we need even
more folks texting, donating, and joining local groups!

2020 Update
With the conclusion of February comes the conclusion of the early state's
primary contests. The results of the South Carolina primary brought in a
renewed wave of uncertainty, with former VP Joe Biden surging to victory
and capturing a plurality of the popular vote. Sen. Bernie Sanders still
holds the plurality of delegates, with 58 delegates.
* [ [link removed] ]Super Tuesday is tomorrow and the primary is still as uncertain as
ever! 14 states and two territories will be allocating over one third
of the total delegates up for grabs in this primary. Sen. Bernie
Sanders currently holds the lead in many Super Tuesday state polls,
but there are a handful of states where there’s been no recent
polling, so [ [link removed] ]no clear indication of which candidate will prevail.
Want to improve your candidate’s chances in any of the Super Tuesday
states? There’s still time for you to make an impact in this primary!
Check out Indivisible’s “[ [link removed] ]How to Impact the Primary” resource for
more info on what you can do. Not sure who to support? [ [link removed] ]Take a look
at our scorecard and see how the candidates stack up.
* [ [link removed] ]We conducted a survey of Indivisibles and published the results!
Grassroots organizers and activists are the fuel that powers national
campaigns, so we surveyed Indivisibles nationwide to understand how
members of the movement are approaching the race at this point. We
know Indivisibles will be a major force in building wins for Democrats
up and down the ballot in November, and we’re excited to keep
listening and sharing what we learn. [ [link removed] ]Check out our Medium post for
a summary of the results of the February survey.
* [ [link removed] ]Tom Steyer, [ [link removed] ]Pete Buttigieg, & [ [link removed] ]Amy Klobuchar have dropped
out of the primary. We’re thankful to all three candidates for
engaging with Indivisible activists during their campaigns and for
being champions of environmental justice and democracy reform. We hope
that the candidates remaining in the race will embrace some of those
priorities, like court reform and filibuster
elimination.

Support the Payback Project
The Payback Project is going swimmingly: Indivisibles are using a
peer-to-peer texting program called TextOut to get voters in key states
involved in holding their senators accountable. We expected to have sent
about 140,000 text messages by this month, but literally hundreds of you
stepped up, and we’ve sent more than 500,000 texts to voters.
But we’re charged by the text, and all that enthusiasm means we’re
spending through our texting budget a lot faster than we expected. Right
now, we’ve spent almost $21,000 more than we planned for this point, and
we need to keep spending to reach as many voters as we can while they’re
energized. [ [link removed] ]That means we need your help: can you donate $10 to fund
our texting program, the Payback Project, and all our work?

and check out our to-dos and take advantage of every opportunity to get
involved with our top calls to action. We're engaging in this fight at
every level, and we're so grateful for everything you're doing to fight
with us.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
