 Hopes to: Become an obstetrician-gynecologist to provide affordable and high-quality healthcare for hundreds of women in the Bronx.
 
Briyant Boakye FrimpongRecent graduate of: LION Charter School
 Headed to: Brandeis University
 Hopes to: Major in computer science with a minor in economics to make our global and interconnected online community a safer place.
 
 Unveiled a new mural named "Selva" to honor Brandon Hendricks
 
	Oyate Group commissioned the mural by Nick Edward-Woolley to visually convey the meaning of Oyate Group and portray the shared experiences that have shaped the community it serves. 
 Hosted 45 participants of Beyond Rising
 
	We partnered with Fordham University and Lehman College to offer undocumented high schoolers the paid opportunity for career development, mentoring and exploration of their passions, more than doubling available spots from our launch in 2022. 
  Received a $60,000 donation from Major League Baseball players
 
	We partnered with nine current and former baseball players to provide over 5,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children in the hometowns of the baseball players in the Dominican Republic. |  |  |

                                    | This fall we're… Expanding Beyond Rising to run year-round 
	Undocumented high school students will now have the chance to participate in a paid internship and extended learning program throughout the school year. 
 Announcing the top 10 entrepreneurs to participate in a Shark-Tank style pitch to secure their place in Community Capital. 
	The top three winners will receive between $10-50k investments, mentoring and ongoing business support from the Oyate Group network. 
 Launching a new program: Rise Leadership 
	Oyate Group’s newest program is a leadership program for high school sophomores and juniors that runs throughout the school year and inspires participants to become creators, critical thinkers, community leaders and social change makers. 
 Celebrating the season with turkey giveaways 
	Last year, we gave out over 1,500 turkeys, bringing the total number of turkeys we’ve provided to our community to date to more than 3,000. Stay tuned for the application to request turkeys for your organization, coming soon. |  |  |

                                    | Oyate Group events Join us at our office on Friday, Oct. 13 for a book launch event by renowned author Rajiv Mohabir to celebrate his new publication Whale Aria in which he examines the humpback whale as an analog of the queer, brown, migratory experience. He will read selected works and be signing copies, which will be available for purchase. Two other writers, Liz Jaikaran & Will Depoo, will also read selected pieces.
 Rajiv Mohabir is the author of The Taxidermist’s Cut, The Cowherd’s Son and Cutlish, which was awarded the Eric Hoffer Medal Provocateur, placed second in the 2022 Guyana Prize for Literature, was longlisted for the 2022 PEN/Voelcker Prize and was a finalist for both the New England Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award. His memoir, Antiman: A Hybrid Memoir won the Forward Indies Award for LGBTQ+ Nonfiction.
