Hi John

We are delighted to welcome Born Free supporters and friends from around the world to join us for our exclusive virtual event – The Elephant and The Dame.

To make this celebratory event accessible for all our global family, registration will be totally free, with the option of donating what you can.

Join us as we remember Pole Pole, the young elephant who was our charity’s original inspiration; and celebrate our beloved Co-Founder Virginia McKenna – made a Dame in this year’s New Year Honours, for her devotion to wild animals.

Hosted by Virginia’s son, Born Free’s Executive President Will Travers OBE, the unique online event will not only take us down memory lane as we commemorate Pole Pole and share her story, but will also be a chance to learn more about how our work with elephants remains at the forefront of what we do.

The event will include film clips never seen before, and the exclusive premiere of a brand-new animation, as well as a performance by classical soprano Margaret Keys. We will of course be celebrating Virginia becoming a Dame, with the chance to send your own message to congratulate her, and we will look forward to a special guest appearance from Virginia herself.

During the event, attendees have the option of making a pledge – a donation that whether small or large, will support Born Free’s vital work protecting wildlife around the world.

There will also be a silent auction, with a whole host of unique items available to bid on. From original artwork and signed prints from the likes of Gary Hodges and Charlotte Suttons, to sporting experiences and European getaways, there is something to suit all interests!

If you are not able to join us live on the night, don’t worry – you can still make a pledge or bid on an auction item in advance.
