Friend, we are reaching out to you with urgent updates about Afghanistan, Gaza and Israel.
On Oct. 7, a devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck western Afghanistan. This natural disaster has left a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.
As we speak, the situation on the ground is dire. The earthquake has claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people and counting, and the aftershocks that have followed only exacerbate the suffering. Houses have been reduced to rubble or severely damaged. Families are grappling with the aftermath of this catastrophe – among them, thousands of displaced people who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
Following the quake, Americares Emergency Response Team immediately reached out to local partner organizations to offer assistance. We are prepared to send urgently needed medicines, relief supplies and emergency funding to help survivors and restore health services in the hardest hit communities.
And this past weekend, many of us watched with horror as attacks unfolded in Israel and counter attacks in Gaza began.
Since fighting began on Oct. 7, United Nations agencies have reported more than 1,400 people have died and more than 187,000 people have been displaced.
