Friends,
Like you, I was shocked to wake up Saturday morning and see that Israel, one of our strongest allies, was under an unprecedented and highly coordinated attack by Hamas terrorists.
The depravity and inhumanity is unlike anything we've seen.
Babies beheaded.
Children kidnapped.
Women raped and dragged through the streets.
Young concert-goers hunted down and massacred in cold blood.
To be clear: there was absolutely no justification for this gruesome and unprovoked attack against civilians. I was disgusted to see a few members of Congress actually try to blame the Israeli government and make excuses for terrorists.
There is no moral equivalency here. Hamas does not seek peace or a two-state solution. Hamas is a terrorist group backed by the Iranian government that seeks one thing only: wiping the state of Israel and the Jewish people off this earth.
We can never let that happen. America must stand by our ally Israel and its right to defend its people and its very existence. I've been proud to support Israel during my time as your U.S. Senator, and I will continue to support Israel during its time of need.
My office is currently working to help a number of North Carolinians in Israel safely return home.
In the coming weeks, Congress must come together to ensure Israel has the weapons, intelligence, and diplomatic support it needs to bring justice to the terrorists who cowardly and savagely murdered innocent civilians.
