In any conflict or disaster, children suffer first and suffer most. UNICEF is there for them, first and foremost.

We have all seen devastating reports of children injured, killed, and abducted. Many more are on the frontlines of dangerous conflicts around the world.

They are seeing with their own eyes violence toward people they know and love, the destruction of their homes and communities and shattering of their peace and security. That is something no child should ever have to witness or live through.

As you move through your day, as you take in the news, please do so with children in mind. As always, UNICEF remains focused on the needs of children in crisis and we will keep you informed as we are able to.

We are with you, we are with children and their families at risk and we are so grateful to you for being a part of this UNICEF community that puts every single child first — always.

Wishing everyone peace and safety,

Michael J. Nyenhuis
