You care about Earth’s future. By taking action as a member of EDF’s Action Network and by donating to support the work of our staff experts, you’re making a big impact.

Last year, Action Network members sent more than 538,000 messages to their elected officials and contributed more than $7.2 million online to fight climate change, safeguard our health against toxic pollution and protect vulnerable wildlife and their habitats.

That’s why this March, we’re celebrating our first annual Membership Month: a celebration of members like you and the difference you make in the world. 

To kick things off, we want to hear from you: Tell us why you joined EDF or what you’re most proud of accomplishing as a member 

Maybe you joined in 2016, when – for the first time ever – EDF opposed the nomination of an EPA Administrator. When Scott Pruitt was confirmed, we launched our Boot Pruitt campaign to draw attention to his mismanagement of EPA and its budget.

Thanks to your tireless efforts, in the summer of 2018 we forced the corrupt Pruitt to leave office in disgrace. 

Maybe you've just recently come on board to help defend the environmental protections currently under attack.

Many of you have been with us for decades – pushing McDonald’s to eliminate Styrofoam packaging in the 1990s, convincing federal regulators to end the use of leaded gasoline in the 1980s, or securing lasting protections for hunted whales in the 1970s. 

And a few of you were around for our first big fight, and the reason EDF was created in 1967: To ban the pesticide DDT that was decimating ecosystems. We filed the first environmental lawsuit in U.S. history, and we won, ushering in the modern environmental movement.

Through Membership Month, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite stories from members like you by email and on our social media channels.

We hope that you’ll draw as much hope and inspiration from each other as we here at EDF draw from you every day we come to work.
