North Carolina's Republican-controlled Legislature overrode Gov. Roy Cooper's (D) veto of two anti-voting bills — Senate Bills 747 and 749 — enacting the legislation into law.

Minutes after Republican lawmakers overrode Cooper’s veto, voting rights groups sued over part of North Carolina's new omnibus voter suppression law, S.B. 747, arguing that it violates the First and 14th Amendments.

Another lawsuit was filed by the Democratic National Committee challenging different provisions of S.B.747.

Louisiana filed its response in the U.S. Supreme Court to Black voters and civil rights groups' emergency request for a hearing on new congressional districts. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the hearing to be canceled, delaying a fair map.
