John,
The House is back in session this week, but confusion and chaos remain as the Republican Caucus attempts to coalesce around a candidate for Speaker of the House.1 Until that happens, nothing can be done.
As the House rules stand now, no legislation introduced can be brought to the floor for a vote, and any legislation the Senate passes will also sit in limbo until a House Speaker is elected.
As potential future Speakers make concessions to try and solidify the votes needed in the Republican Caucus, we're fighting back against cuts to critical programs, against policies that are hostile to immigrant communities, and against closed-door commissions that attack Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP.
Even in the midst of right-wing chaos, we must fight for people's needs and demand Congress does its job. Donate $5 today to help us fight for vulnerable communities.

Back in January, in his bid to become Speaker, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made numerous promises that put the funding of vital programs providing for education, food, child care, housing, and home heating/cooling in jeopardy.
House leadership is uncertain, but one thing is clear. People still need services, and we have to fight back against those who would score political points by cutting those services. With the stopgap spending bill ending on November 17th, we need to fight back harder than ever against policies that harm vulnerable people and communities.
We know that the razor-thin House majority is seeking to curry favor with xenophobic factions by targeting immigrants seeking asylum and young immigrants who came here as children. We cannot let them push for policies that tear families apart and devastate immigrant communities.
Chip in $5 to keep the pressure on Congress to do its job and deliver for low-income families and vulnerable communities.
