Last week, I watched as the GOP’s Clown Caucus removed Kevin McCarthy as Speaker with no plan to replace him – obstructing Congress over a petty personal feud.

Now, if you’ve ever read my tweets, you’ll know that I’m not particularly sad to see McCarthy go. In fact, I’m confident that if there were some kind of lifetime achievement award for spineless cowards, he’d win in a landslide.

He’s historically ineffective, weak, opportunistic, and subservient to the deranged fringe of his party. He made his bed, and now he’s lying in it.

What deeply troubles me, though, is that we’re under the control of a broken, radicalized party, with no loyalty to anything or anyone – save for Donald Trump.

Republicans aren’t loyal to their constituents. Not to Congress. Not to the Constitution. Not to our democracy. And, evidently, not even to their fellow Republicans.

McCarthy’s removal isn’t the cause of the current chaos. It’s just one symptom, with serious consequences for Americans and the people around the world who rely on America’s leadership.

So I’m asking for your support to drown out this chaos, clear out the right-wing circus, and restore responsible leadership in Congress.
