Jack, I don't want to be writing this email.

I'd rather be writing an email to raise money for the Daily Kos-endorsed candidates running in important races in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, who could use an influx of cash to help win their elections that are just a few weeks off.

But like I said, this isn't one of those emails. Unfortunately, our fundraising for October, just like in September, has gotten off to an abysmal start. We are only at 24% of our October goal, we should be closer to 33% of our goal. So instead of raising money for our progressive candidates, we need to raise money for ourselves so we can continue to produce the freely accessible content and actions you have come to trust from us.

Community fundraising is our largest source of income. Our other sources of income have been falling short of their goals for some time now, which means we have become more and more reliant on donations from our readers and activists to cover our operating expenses.

That's why it is so important for us to reach our fundraising goals. Help us continue to do our work, day in and day out, with a donation of $5 today.
