Hi, it’s Anna Kaplan.

This weekend, we were all heartbroken by the gruesome images of Hamas terrorists infiltrating Israel, kidnapping, murdering, and brutalizing unarmed civilians, including at least nine Americans.

I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms. I stand unequivocally with the State of Israel and support her right to defend herself.

I’m also extremely troubled by the grotesque and appalling rally held in NYC this weekend sponsored by the NYC Democratic Socialists of America (“DSA”). Antisemitism has no place in our country, and I condemn it and call on other elected officials to do the same, particularly those who are DSA members.

Antisemitism isn’t new to me. I was born to a Jewish family in Iran. One of my earliest memories was of a trip to the produce store; the shopkeeper told my mother and me not to touch the vegetables simply because we were Jewish

We’re now learning that Iran was behind these recent attacks from Hamas against civilians. They must be held accountable, and I stand with President Biden as he rightly stands with our ally, Israel.

My prayers go out to those who’ve lost loved ones, and to those who are anxiously awaiting the return of their loved ones.
