Friend Healthcare corporations in our district are justifying the closure of rural healthcare services in Northern Michigan, citing "staff shortages," "expenses," and "regulation." Yet, the salaries of their out-of-state executives are skyrocketing. Even non-profit healthcare organizations are not immune. Due to a Trump-era 20% tax on executive salaries for non-profits, McLaren Health is taxed $1.6 million on their CEO's bloated $8 million/year salary. Because of this so-called "regulation" and "expense," instead of cutting executive pay enough to prevent closures, they are shutting down an eight-bed hospice facility in #MI01 and blaming it on staff shortages. The healthcare system in America needs to be completely flipped. I know a doctor / Congressional candidate to do it, and I know a system that will put patients first. #MedicareForAll
