John — Moments ago, I got off the stage at our NC Strong kickoff rally. Now, I’m setting off on a statewide tour to meet with people all over North Carolina.
I was awed by the enthusiasm folks showed here in Raleigh, and I’m so excited to get to talk to even more North Carolinians in the days to come. I feel the energy building for our campaign. And it has me more fired up than ever — but we can’t get complacent. The polls have shown that I’m in a dead heat with my extremist Republican opponent over and over again. We know this race could come down to a handful of votes, but I won’t let us leave it up to chance. We need to out-work, out-organize, and out-raise Mark Robinson and his far-right allies to win.
I’ve shared with you my vision for North Carolina’s future. I intend to prioritize funding for our public schools so our kids can compete, work with law enforcement to keep our communities safe, fight for women’s reproductive rights, and defend our democracy. If Mark Robinson wins, it will mean the end of all those plans. He’s made it clear just how radical his agenda is. Even so, we know that Robinson’s war-chest and the outside support he can expect from the national GOP makes this race too close. But I’m confident that people-power can overcome their mega-donors. I saw it first hand at the rally today: North Carolinians are ready to fight for our state’s future. I know I can count on you.
