Returning to Annapolis last month for my Naval Academy 20th class reunion alongside my daughters, I was so excited to see the first-ever female Superintendent of the Naval Academy.
Rear Admiral Yvette Davids is set to break another barrier for women in the military as the leader of the Naval Academy. It’s an incredible feat, but I was disappointed to find out that her Senate confirmation has been single-handedly held back by Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama.
Rear Admiral Davids is not the only one, over 300 military promotions remain halted, while the military continues to function without Senate-confirmed leaders.
Senator Tuberville's politically-motivated actions are reckless and dangerous. Americans deserve leaders who serve with honor and integrity. Our politics cannot function when people like this are willing to put politics over our country and people, even our national security – it is long past time for a new politics.
If you agree, we need to hear from you. Add your name here now and let us know you want to see more leaders in office with the courage to put people over politics and get things done. [[link removed]]ADD YOUR NAME [[link removed]]
I’m so proud to work for New Politics , which was created to put servant leaders in office who are willing to work together for the good of our country. People over politics, every time.
This exciting, pride-filled weekend, complete with a parade, tailgating, and football, opened my eyes once again to the importance of our work here at New Politics.
If you believe we need a new caliber of leadership, at every single level, then I hope you will stand with New Politics and add your name here to let us know. [[link removed]]
Thank you for taking the time to connect,
– Alicia
P.S. I’m happy to report the weekend’s biggest win was Navy over Wagner![link removed] [[link removed]]

New Politics supports outstanding military veterans and national service leaders, alumni of programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, to step up and serve our country again, this time through politics. We were proud to be behind the movement of veterans who ran for office for the first time in 2018, and we have big plans to grow into the future.
