Schoolchildren?s artwork unveiled in Clifton
mural
A mural designed by local schoolchildren was unveiled yesterday (Monday) at the Kieron Hill Court apartments in Clifton.
The mural was designed by students from Farnborough Academy as part of a City Council competition to come up with a design that reflected the local area. It was installed by Nottingham-based artist Nathan Bainbridge, aka Small Kid.
Kieron Hill Court, built as part of the Building A Better Nottingham programme, opened in December last year and was named after a popular soldier who fell in the line of duty 14 years ago, aged just 20.

Refreshed substance-use support available in Nottingham
support
Substance use can cause significant harm, not only to the user but to family, friends and loved ones as well. It can lead to more people having other health-related conditions, and increase the chances of hospital admissions and debt.
I?m really pleased that we have teamed up with specialist substance use, recovery and treatment providers the Nottingham Recovery Network and Change, Grow, Live to offer support to people in Nottingham.
Framework Housing Association, on behalf of the Nottingham Recovery Network (NRN), will work with a number of key organisations, including Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Double Impact and Al Hurraya to deliver adult community-based treatment and recovery services at sites across the city for people who use alcohol and drugs.
Change, Grow, Live will deliver a community prevention, support and treatment service for young people and young adults, with a new focus on those aged between 18 and 25 who use alcohol and drugs.
The new services, which started on the 1 October, will be available to everybody impacted by substance use who lives in Nottingham.

Thane Road junction improvements begin later this month
thane road
Works will start on 23 October to improve congestion along Thane Road heading towards the ring road, by increasing junction capacity at the mini-roundabout where it meets Lenton Lane.
Due to be completed in early January 2024, the Transforming Cities-funded works will widen the road slightly by re-aligning a footpath, meaning we can introduce an additional traffic lane on Thane Road between Bull Close Lane and the mini-roundabout. This will provide a dedicated right-turn approach lane into the mini-roundabout.

Leigh Wood?s win a knock-out night for Nottingham sport
leigh wood
Huge congratulations to Nottingham boxer Leigh Wood for his dramatic defeat of Josh Warrington on Saturday evening.
He certainly didn?t have it all his way over the course of the fight but showed remarkable courage, skill and stamina to turn things around and retain his WBA featherweight title.
We?re really lucky in Nottingham have such elite-level performers, and sporting teams, and Leigh?s success is something we can all be very proud of.
