Our National Peace Conference on November 11th to 12th is just one month away.

We're writing to ask everyone to let us know who is coming. We need to make reservations for out-of-town delegates and guests and can't do that without names and numbers coming from each area. Here's the link to register for the conference. So far 23 guests have registered. As you can see, we need to step up the pace.

This will be a conference of party members and invited guests. In order to help guarantee the conference's breadth and diversity the National Board is suggesting attendance of up to two delegates per club plus members of the YCL. Keep in mind the "up-to-two-delegates" formula is a suggestion, not a requirement. The number is flexible depending on the unique situation in each club and district. Clubs may send two, one or in some cases no one. We strongly urge district leaders to have a political discussion among themselves and with clubs about who should attend.

In this regard, recall that our National Committee has outlined the goal of the conference as helping to strengthen the peace movement by bringing new forces into it and building a broad, working-class-led, multi-racial, multi-gendered peace front.

Bringing new forces forward applies to the conference itself: we don't want a meeting of only current peace activists but also trade unionists, women, people of color and LGBTQ leaders who have experience in organizing other movements that could be applied to peace work and setting a working-class agenda.

This registration link is for members and guests. If you are interested in attending we'd love to see you. Please contact your club and district and let them know you applied. If folks are not in a club and wish to attend as a guest, please let us know and we'll get back to you.

As is our usual practice the conference should be self-financing: districts and clubs should pay for member's participation if needed. Delegates will be housed at our offices and nearby hostels. Here's the link to register for the conference.
