1) Now All Americans Can See the Insanity of the Biden Energy Strategy
We’ve been warning regularly on these pages that the Biden war on American fossil fuels is not just an economic calamity, but a national security threat as well. We have known for fifty years that terrorist organizations like Hamas are primarily financed with petro-dollars.
Just as Biden has aided and abetted the Russian war machine in Ukraine, he has enriched Middle East oil-producing nations like Iran as well.
Our latest CTUP analysis finds that the reduction in US oil output under Biden from the Trump trend has cost the U.S. roughly $500 million a day. Much of that money has been transferred week after week from American producers to nations hostile to the U.S. and Israel.
Missing Under Biden:
2 to 3 Million Barrels of U.S. Oil Each Day
This has helped fund the very missiles being fired on Israel.
Biden’s “green” energy policy is weakening America and strengthening our enemies making the world a much more dangerous place.

2) The First (Amendment) Shall Be Last
There is something deeply wrong with our country when arguably the most prestigious university in the nation ranks dead last in protecting free speech on campus.
Recent surveys indicate that nearly two-thirds (62%) of college students say that the climate on college campuses prevents the free expression of ideas.

Rep. Virginia Foxx, who chairs the House Education Committee, has put this dangerous trend in proper perspective:
“The hostile takeover of postsecondary education by political activists, woke faculty, and partisan administrators has established a dangerous trend that threatens students’ constitutionally guaranteed rights and the college education model that should, at its very core, be an open marketplace for all ideas, free of political bias and agendas.”
Doesn’t it seem like yesterday that universities were preaching tolerance? Apparently what is being taught on campus these days is illiberal arts.

3) The Pope Blames America First For Climate Change
Last week we lambasted Pope Francis’ absurd climate change encyclical rant. We’ve received many comments on that from readers – positive and negative.
Here’s another example of a total fallacy in the Pope’s Blame America First denunciation of Western nation’s “irresponsible lifestyles."
Francis declares that “emissions per individual in the United States are about two times greater than those of individuals living in China, and about seven times greater than the average of the poorest countries.” Why is the Pope appeasing a country with some of the worst human rights and environmental violations on the planet. President Xi is loving life right now.
China’s emissions are in fact TWO to THREE times higher than those of the United States even though our economy is roughly two to three times as large as theirs.

Yes, America uses more energy than any other nation, but that is because we PRODUCE far more output than any other nation in the world. It’s one of the reasons the United States is the breadbasket of the world.
The solution to improving living conditions all over the planet ISN’T for the U.S. to consume less energy. It is for poor nations to have access to much more reliable and affordable energy – something the environmentalists – and now apparently the Catholic Church officially oppose.
So much for the infallibility of THIS Pope.

4) Stock Up at the Grocery Store While You Still Can
Just over a century ago, America invented the self-service grocery store, which first opened in Memphis, Tennessee.
But now, supermarkets and other retail stores are closing down and locking up in inner cities with rampant crime. Next week, Target is shutting down nine stores in Harlem, Seattle, San Francisco, Portland, and Oakland.
Why? Last week, the National Retail Federation estimated that “shrinkage,” including theft by staff and customers, reached $112 billion last year, up from $94 billion a year earlier.
Clothing stores are locking their doors and making customers buzz to gain entrance; supermarkets are limiting the number of carts to prevent them from being used for theft; drug stores are locking every more items in cabinets that require a clerk to come open.
Inner cities are moving back to the future by becoming food deserts again. The free pass to shoplifters and flash mobs harms low-income Americans with few convenient shopping options left.
Thank progressives.

5) Missing: Five Million Workers
The jobs market is very strong, but where are the workers to fill the jobs that are out there?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics “household survey” released on Friday showed that more people left the workforce in September than entered. About 5 million people are missing from the labor force compared to pre-pandemic. Adjusting for these missing workers reveals an unemployment rate that is officially 3.8% is closer to between 6.3% and 6.8%.
What kinds of jobs were added in September?
Part-time jobs. The economy lost full-time jobs. Over the last three months, part-time jobs have jumped by 1.2 million while full-time jobs have fallen by 700,000. That’s the biggest drop in full-time jobs since the lockdowns of 2020.
It reminds us of the saying: the jobs market is so good that I have three of them.
