Celebrating Minnesota?s First Indigenous Peoples? Day
This year, the Minnesota Legislature passed into law the formal recognition of Indigenous Peoples? Day every second Tuesday in October. Schools that are open will dedicate time every year on this state-recognized holiday to teach kids about Native American history and culture here in our state. Our students deserve a well-rounded, comprehensive education that reflects fact-based, historical information. This was a long overdue measure to pass into state law and I was glad to support it.
Welcome to Apple Valley, Bodega 42!
A big welcome to Ezequiel Quijada, Fernando Mellado, and Saul Mellado, the new owners of Bodega 42. The food market will offer up flavors of Latin America, with a wide variety of produce, meats, and more, adding to the rich diversity of our Apple Valley community. Their hard work and determination in getting this local business up and running is an inspiring story of achieving the American Dream. Read more from Minnesota Public Radio?s coverage here.
