John, have you heard the latest news?
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins LIED again — this time to protect the SFPD officer who killed Keita O’Neil.
Earlier this year, Brooke dropped the charges against Officer Samayoa based on a LIE. A complete fabrication.
She claimed that the investigator who signed the arrest warrant, Jack Friedman, didn’t actually believe there was probable cause to charge Samayoa.
Then she FIRED Friedman and put him under a gag order so he couldn’t defend himself when Brooke dropped the charges.
Here’s a quick recap on this case: Samayoa shot and killed Keita O’Neil at point blank range through his windshield in 2017. Keita was COMPLETELY UNARMED. It was essentially a DRIVE-BY. The city of San Francisco agreed that it was unjust — they paid the family $2.5 million dollars.
In 2019, we worked hard to elect DA Chesa Boudin because we trusted him to take police accountability seriously. He followed through on his promises: Samayoa was the first SFPD officer ever charged with an on-duty shooting.
And we know why. For decades, District Attorneys like Brooke gave police officers a kill and get out of jail free card.
To nobody’s surprise, the police union spent MILLIONS to remove Chesa from office and support the appointment of Brooke.
When it finally looked like Keita’s family was going to have a chance for justice, Brooke dropped the charges against Samayoa.
No trial. No jury. Just more injustice.
And now it’s clear that Brooke resorted to straight-up LYING to make sure that police officers aren’t held accountable in San Francisco. Please read and share the news so we can let everyone know about Brooke’s lies before her next election in 2024.
