Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!
I’m proud to have worked side-by-side with tribes in California and across the country to address their needs and increase their access to representation, and I look forward to continuing that important work.
While we celebrate the vibrant cultures and heritage of these communities, let us not lose sight of the increasingly stark disparities that tribal communities face across the nation.
We must remain fully committed to fulfilling the federal government's trust responsibility to Tribal Nations in California’s 25th district, and throughout the country through our efforts to improve access to health care, clean drinking water, and other essential services. In those fights and many others, I am fortunate to be their partner.
But there is still much to be done!
We can and will continue to push for increased health care and mental health services, critical broadband and infrastructure projects, and other important issues related to environmental protection, sustainability, and so much more.
I’m honored to work alongside them to honor tribal sovereignty, promote self-determination, and fulfill our trust responsibility to native tribes.
