John,
The New Republic recently published an article titled “This Year’s Most Bruising Political Battle Will Be in Virginia,” and I’d like to share some of their insights with you.
(Before I delve into the details here, can I ask you to pitch in $25 or more to help us continue providing badly-needed resources to Democrats in the final weeks of this election?)
Here are some of their key takeaways:
- Virginia may be blue at the national level, but is still highly competitive in state elections.
- Republicans are hiding their stances on abortion from voters, because they know their extreme views are unpopular – even neglecting to include the issue on their campaign websites.
- If Republicans win the State Senate, Youngkin will have the mandate to ban abortion in Virginia, and “publicly proclaimed that he would be willing to go much further than a 15-week ban.”
- Perhaps unsurprisingly, Youngkin has big plans to become a national right-wing star with a strong showing in Virginia this year.
Simply put, John, there’s a huge amount at stake in this election.
I’m asking for your help to make sure that Gov. Youngkin doesn’t get the chance to cement his right-wing majority in Virginia, destroy abortion rights, and become the GOP’s next darling. We don’t need an extremist in sheep’s clothing in the White House.
Please – can I count on you to chip in $25, $30, or even more if you can spare it, to take back the General Assembly next month and wave bye-bye to Youngkin’s presidential ambitions for good?
Appreciatively,
Elaine Luria
