The Texas Music Office (TMO) announced the opening of applications for the?Texas Music Incubator Rebate (TMIR)?Program?on September 1, 2023. The program was?signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott in 2021?and funded in 2023, and the first round of applications closes November 30, 2023.
With $20.2 million in funding approved for the biennium in the 88th Regular Legislative Session, the TMIR Program will provide qualifying Texas music venues and festival promoters a full or partial rebate of certain taxes to help support the live music industry in communities across the state.?

The City of Lufkin, having completed the multi-step certification process, has been designated?the 45th Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the TMO. The Music Friendly Texas program, the first in the nation since introduced by TMO in 2016, seeks to foster music business-related economic development and job creation in Texas cities and communities.?

The City of Dalhart earned their Music Friendly Texas Certified Community Designation through the Texas Music Office (TMO) on September 25, 2023.?The Certification Ceremony was held during a special City Council Meeting and included speakers from the Dalhart community and City leaders, along with TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams.

The TMO and Visit Graham co-hosted a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on Tuesday, September 26. The Graham workshop is the first step in the certification process to become certified as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the TMO.?

The TMO and Downtown Weatherford, Inc. co-hosted a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on Tuesday, August 22. The Weatherford workshop is the first step in the certification process. When completed, Weatherford will join now more than 48 other Texas cities that have earned the Music Friendly Texas designation.

During Americanafest 2023 in Nashville, TN, the TMO was honored to participate in multiple panels.
TMO Director Brendon Anthony moderated the panel ?The Journey of the Song: An Exploration from Distribution to Deposit (And Everything In Between)? featuring Kris Ahrend, CEO of The Mechanical Licensing Collective, Jody Williams of Jody Williams Songs, and Shelby Yoder of Willo & Co.
Director Anthony also participated on the ?Why Should Governments Invest in Music?? panel with moderator Reid Wick of the Recording Academy, Elizabeth Cawein of Music Export Memphis, Jimmy Wheeler of Tennessee Entertainment Commission Music Office, and Lacey Chataignier of the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development.
TMO Programs Manager Steve Ray participated in a panel on the history of the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas with musician Brennen Leigh, Diana Cox of Kessler Presents, musician Thomas Csorba, and historian Steph McDougal.?

TMO Programs Manager Steve Ray presented musician Brennen Leigh with an Honorary Texan Proclamation from the State of Texas during Americanafest.?
TMO Marketing & Communications Specialist Jenny Perkins presented the official HAAM Day Proclamation from the State to CEO Paul Scott.?
Steve Ray also presented a State Proclamation to?Carlos Guzman, the million-selling artist, actor, and Grammy winner, with 60+ years in the music business.
