Dear John,
I just got a report-back on the effectiveness of our latest series of videos on how price-gouging corporations are causing inflation, and I wanted to share these results with you right now.
First, some quick background on how we work. Every day, the team here at Inequality Media is dreaming up new videos to educate the public and change minds about issues like inflation and the economy.
Then, we use scientific testing to figure out which videos are most successful at changing people’s minds. According to public opinion experts, if you can move your target audience by two to three points, that’s considered successful. Five points is outstanding.
Now here’s the incredible news: Our latest series of videos are moving the numbers by 12 to 18 points!
We need to act fast to get these videos in front of as many Americans as possible. That’s why I’m asking you to make a donation today to help us strike while the iron is hot.
Will you make a donation to help raise awareness and educate the public about what’s really happening with our economy and how price-gouging corporations are driving inflation?
Americans are furious about the skyrocketing cost of living, and for good reason. In America, it’s expensive just to be alive. But unless people understand what’s really driving inflation — monopolistic, price-gouging corporations — they won’t be able to demand the right solutions from policymakers.
Worse yet, far too many people are getting taken in by the right-wing media’s phony arguments blaming inflation on “big government” and calling for tax cuts and weaker antitrust enforcement, which would only give corporations more power to jack up prices.
That’s where we come in.
Our videos provide key context and facts that the corporate media rarely if ever mention — like the fact that corporate profits reached a 70-year high during the post-pandemic inflation, or how just four firms control 85% of all beef, 66% of all pork, and 54% of all poultry production, giving them the power to dictate prices without fear of being undercut by a lower-priced competitor.
These latest videos are shifting public opinion across every demographic group. Men and women, progressives, centrists, and conservatives, urban, rural, and suburban residents. After seeing our videos, incredibly high numbers of people in every group are expressing support for policies like breaking up big corporations and raising taxes on price-gougers.
I believe that the secret of our success here is a combination of both execution and timing. Yes, the team here at Inequality Media does amazing work. But this is also a message that people are hungry for at this moment. People want honest explanations about what is happening in our economy and what they’re experiencing around their own kitchen tables. So to take full advantage of these results, we need to act right now.
Please chip in whatever you can afford to help us educate the public about price-gouging corporations driving inflation and build support for a fairer, stronger economy.
Thank you for helping fight back against price-gouging corporations,
Robert Reich
