Hi John,
In the Tewa Territory of Espanola, New Mexico, community organizer Jacob
Johns fell victim to a violent attack from a right-wing extremist while
participating in a peaceful demonstration against the reinstallation of a
Juan de Oñate statue.
This act of violence isn’t isolated. It's part of a broader wave of
aggression fueled by reactionary ideologies and racism.
As we observe Indigenous Peoples' Day nationally, this incident amplifies
the critical importance of standing in solidarity with indigenous
communities against the rising tide of radical violence that seeks to
undermine the rich cultural heritage and the rights of indigenous peoples.
That's why we are demanding immediate action and raising our voices louder
than ever. Share our posts calling for justice, accountability, and
support for Jacob:

Across our nation, the power of community shines as a beacon of hope.
Through collective action, from challenging oppressive symbols to
resisting harmful infrastructure projects on indigenous lands, we've
witnessed the transformative power of united efforts. The incident
involving Jacob Johns is a call to action, reaffirming that our quest for
justice, equality, and environmental preservation is far from over.
On Indigenous Peoples' Day, let’s raise nationwide awareness and action
against the rising tide of reactionary violence, uphold the rights and
heritage of Indigenous communities, and seek justice and accountability
for Jacob Johns and others victimized by such violence.
Thank you for standing with us on this significant day, contributing to a
movement that seeks to protect and honor the rights and heritage of
indigenous communities.
- Jeff
