**This position will cover projects primarily in King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Island Counties with frequent travel to job sites required. After the initial probationary period, this position is eligible for full-time telework within Washington State, with the expectation to participate in occasional on-site trainings and/or meetings at the Olympia office. During the probationary period, it is expected that the incumbent will report to the Olympia office 1-2 days per week, unless other arrangements are made.**
We are seeking an Architect 2 to support the mission of Real Estate Services by providing safe and secure leased facilities for our client agencies through effective design and project management. In this role, you will coordinate with managers and staff from state agencies, boards and commissions, code officials, and property owners or their agents, to ensure the facilities leased for use by the state meet program needs and use public resources effectively and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in the design and planning of office space for large organizations, and knowledgeable in the theory and principles of architectural design and commercial building construction administration. Proficiency in design and drafting using Computer Aided Design software such as AutoCAD or REVIT is required. You will need to be able to adapt easily to changing conditions and work responsibilities. Creative and innovative thinking will be key in seeking opportunities for creative problem solving. Clear and effective communication skills are required as this role communicates regularly with management, administrative and contracts specialists, leasing agents, client agencies, lessors, and contractors to effectively perform their duties.
