The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Energy Unit is now accepting applications for the Community Energy Management Program. The purpose of this program is to help communities improve energy management and accelerate the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy.?

The Community Energy Management Program will promote energy waste reduction, drive the adoption of renewable energy, and advance Michigan on its path to carbon neutrality by 2050, as stated in the MI Healthy Climate Plan.

Grant funding is available to local governments, tribal governments,?and other public-service entities?for energy-related projects.?A minimum?of $150,000 in funding is expected to be available for this program now, with additional funding expected to be available upon the U.S. Department of Energy?s approval of EGLE?s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program Formula Application.

The maximum grant award for the Community Energy Management Program is $25,000 per applicant.?Applications will be accepted and processed on a first come, first served basis according to program priorities.
