Israel Formally Declares War on Hamas After Cruel Attack

National Review: Israel formally declared war with Hamas, the first time the Jewish State has undertaken such a move since the 1973 Yom Kippur War. The announcement coincided with a statement from a Hamas spokesman confirming that Iran provided support ahead of the terrorist group’s surprise assault on Israel early Saturday morning. The admission comes as ZAKA, a volunteer outfit assisting the state with dead bodies, acknowledged that over 600 Israelis have been killed so far. That number is expected to rise, with over 2,000 wounded thus far (National Review). Prime Minister of Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “Citizens of Israel, We are at war, not in an operation or in rounds, but at war. This morning, Hamas launched a murderous surprise attack against the State of Israel and its citizens. We have been in this since the early morning hours (X). Free Beacon: Israel’s government on Sunday confirmed at least 100 Israelis are being held captive in Gaza. Social media were filled with photos and videos of Israeli soldiers and civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, being executed, abused, abducted, and held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said the assault that had begun in Gaza, a narrow strip that is home to 2.3 million Palestinians, would spread to the West Bank and Jerusalem (Free Beacon).

Iran Absolutely Helped Plan the Attacks on Israel
This is what happens when you give the world leader in state sponsored terrorism billions. Wall Street Journal: Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday, according to senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, another Iran-backed militant group. Officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had worked with Hamas since August to devise the air, land and sea incursions—the most significant breach of Israel’s borders since the 1973 Yom Kippur War—those people said. Details of the operation were refined during several meetings in Beirut attended by IRGC officers and representatives of four Iran-backed militant groups, including Hamas, which holds power in Gaza, and Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group and political faction in Lebanon, they said (Wall Street Journal). Iranian supreme leader Khamenei: God willing, the cancer of the usurper Zionist regime will be eradicated at the hands of the Palestinian people and the Resistance forces throughout the region (X). National Review: Protesters converged on Times Square in New York City Sunday to rally support for Palestinians after Hamas invaded Israel and perpetrated atrocities including murder, rape, and torture against citizens, about 700 of whom have died so far (National Review).

Elite Media Coverage Implies Israel “Had it Coming”
This is reprehensible. Townhall: The initial hours of the assault saw hundreds of Israelis murdered, thousands wounded, and dozens more kidnapped by Hamas operatives. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to turn all Hamas hiding spots in Gaza into rubble, warning civilians to flee. He also vowed to wipe out Hamas in Gaza essentially. The attacks on innocent Israelis in Southern Israel reportedly included the rape of young girls. And yet, the liberal media reaction to Hamas’ terrorist attack that sparked a new war is as expected—they blame Israel or insinuate that they had it coming. The New York Times, CNN, and MSNBC were all had their ‘those poor Palestinian terrorists’ talking points (Townhall). Grabien founder Tom Elliot: MSNBC’s Matt McBradley on Hamas terror attack: “I couldn’t think of a better gift for Benjamin Netanyahu right now than this kind of incursion … This is a very big gift for Benjamin Netanyahu” (X). Reporter Avi Yemini: Deleted but not forgotten (X). Stop Antisemitism: We have just obtained what appears to be a leaked email written by CBC  (Canadian Broadcast Corp) employee George Achi instructing reporters to: 1. not to mention Gaza has not been occupied since 2005 2. not refer to Palestinian terrorists as terrorists (X).

Hillary Clinton Says MAGA Conservatives Need to Be Entered into Re-Education Camps
Fox News: Conservatives recoiled Friday at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s recent suggestion that there should be a “formal deprogramming” of supporters of former President Donald Trump. After Clinton uttered the claim in a Thursday interview with CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour, prominent conservatives and multiple GOP lawmakers ripped the high-profile Democrat. At one point in the interview, Clinton lamented that political debates in the country have grown more difficult because of extremist Trump supporters’ hold on the Republican Party (Fox News). Mollie Hemingway: Authoritarianism watch. Former Democrat nominee for President calls for re-education of political opponents (X).

Trans Women Have Greater Chance of Suffering from Heart Disease
New York Post: Transgender women taking gender-affirming hormones like estrogen are up to 95% more likely to suffer from heart disease compared to cisgender men. A study published in the European Journal of Endocrinology showed that all trans people were at a “significantly higher risk” of a host of serious and potentially deadly medical conditions, including heart attacks and strokes. Transgender women taking estrogen had a 93% increased risk of heart problems versus control men, and a 73% higher risk when measured against control women. Transgender men taking testosterone had a 2.2 times increased risk of cardiovascular ailments compared with control men, and a 63% increased risk compared with control women (New York Post).

Appeals Court Allows Trump to Retain Control of Businesses, Continue with Civil Trial
Daily Mail: An appeals court judge ruled Friday to allow former President Donald Trump to control his businesses for now – but refused a request to halt his Manhattan civil trial. Trump’s lawyers had asked the state’s intermediate appellate court to suspend the trial in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit and prevent Judge Arthur Engoron from enforcing his ruling of last week, which revokes the Republican frontrunner’s business licenses and puts a court-appointed receiver in charge of his companies. The judge rebuffed Trumps push to pause the New York trial, but agreed to leave him in control of his holdings (Daily Mail). Just the News: James is seeking $250 million in damages and an order barring Trump from doing business in New York. Trump, for his part, considers the case a political attack and part of a broader witch hunt designed to derail his 2024 White House bid. In late September, New York Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump was responsible for defrauding banks and insurers by inflating the value of his properties, which would have secured benefits such as better loan terms and cheaper insurance (Just the News).

Illegal Immigrants Ignore Mayor Eric Adams’ Attempt to Deter Them from Coming to the US
Daily Mail: New York City Mayor Eric Adams has failed to deter migrants from making the treacherous trip to the Big Apple from South America, with many, more empowered than ever. His unusual trip to Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia underscores the criticism that he and other Democratic city and state leaders have voiced for the immigration policies of President Joe Biden. But for those making the journey, Adams’ pleas to dissuade them, although somewhat poorly, fell on deaf ears as some begged the question: ‘How can you tell someone not to follow their American dream?’ ‘I’m not going to be discouraged by what a politician says or a mayor says,’ one migrant said (Daily Mail). RNC Research: Democrat Mayor Eric Adams of New York City (a sanctuary city): “We can’t have a rule that one can come from anywhere on the globe and come to NYC and remain in NYC as long as they want, and taxpayers must pick up the cost” (X).

NYC Mayor Supports Reparations
Daily Mail: The office for New York City Mayor Eric Adams says it supports the ‘spirit’ of a legislation that could trigger black New Yorkers to be paid reparations for slavery. The bill, which was created by Councilwoman Farah Louis to launch a task force to study the effects of racial discrimination on the city could potentially lead to payments being issued. While it’s unclear how much would be spent on reparations in New York, economists in California found as much as $800 billion would be needed for pay-outs. The estimate is more than 2.5 times California’s $300 billion annual budget, and does not include a recommended $1 million per older Black resident for health disparities that have shortened their average life span (Daily Mail). New York Post: Councilwoman Joann Ariola, a Queens Republican, said the entire legislative package is yet another example of the radical left pushing its “own versions of revisionist history — promoting some groups while cancelling others” (New York Post).

Gavin Newsom Tries to Remove Measure Requiring Citizen Votes to Raise Taxes from 2024 Ballot
Wall Street Journal: If Gavin Newsom cares about democracy as much as he proclaims, why is the California Governor asking the state’s Supreme Court to block a voter initiative that would limit Sacramento’s power to raise taxes? Last week Mr. Newsom joined former state Democratic party chairman John Burton in filing an emergency petition with the state Supreme Court to remove the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act from the November 2024 ballot. The measure would “gut the administrative state,” they complain, and “shift the longstanding balance of powers in California” from the executive to the Legislature and people. California’s famous Prop. 13 requires a two-thirds vote of the Legislature to raise taxes and two-thirds approval of local voters to levy special taxes whose revenues are designated for specific purposes. Raising general local taxes requires a simple majority vote (Wall Street Journal).

Largest Healthcare Strike in History Ends with No Deal
Wall Street Journal: Striking Kaiser Permanente workers returned to work Saturday but without new contracts, ending the largest healthcare strike on record as their unions and employer continued to bargain.  Negotiations are scheduled to pick up again Thursday. The labor dispute, which sent 75,000 Kaiser employees to the picket lines for up to three days, hinges on how much the employer agrees to increase pay and staffing.  A resolution could be a ways off.  The sides haven’t talked since Wednesday. The intervention of Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su, who will rejoin negotiations when they resume, didn’t help. Neither Kaiser nor the unions can even agree on whether they have made progress, with the unions continuing to accuse Kaiser of impeding bargaining as Kaiser claimed progress. Another strike could follow, possibly in November (Wall Street Journal).
