Today, a Conservative government brought Northern Rail into public ownership!

Do you believe our whole railway should be in public ownership? If so, you’re in the majority, and there are many reasons why you’re right.

We were on BBC News this morning making the case for a railway that works for passengers, not profit.

It’s brilliant news that Northern passengers can now expect a better service, but we've got two big questions
* Will the government keep Northern Rail in public ownership – or hand over the reins to another private rail company as soon as they can?
* Will the government bring the rest of the railway into public ownership?

We don't know yet. We're waiting for the outcome of the Williams Review on the future of the railways.

Thousands of you have been campaigning with us for the last year to influence Keith Williams, the man carrying out this review.

Together we’ve been lobbying him hard – we won’t get a railway that helps you get around easily, and helps tackle the climate crisis, unless we have public ownership.

Today we worked with the RMT, Bring Back British Rail, Northern Resist and the Association of British Commuters to get the message out.

As the privatised system fails, franchise by franchise, now's the time. There are more victories up for grabs! But the government needs to hear your voice loud and clear.

Sign the petition ([link removed]) to put pressure on Keith Williams to recommend public ownership to the government – or share it with family and friends if you’ve already signed.
