John,

I'm proud to live in Oregon - the very first sanctuary state. We are a welcoming home to diverse communities from all over the world. Immigrants come to our great state with hopes of creating better lives for themselves and their families. In the process, the perspectives and skills they bring have made Oregon stronger. And, they have become our neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family.

Our President ignores this reality. Since the first day of his administration, he has made clear his distaste for refugees and immigrants. His goal has been to make their already difficult lives even harder, to dissuade them from crossing our borders.

His most recent change to our immigration system is a cruel and cowardly policy - imposing a wealth test on the most vulnerable coming here to flee injustice.

I prefer to live in a country where all can pursue their dreams. So today I'm asking you to sign my petition. Demand Congress protect refugees and immigrants against this cruelty.

As the People's Attorney, I'll continue to stand up for our refugees and immigrants, whether I'm defending our status as a sanctuary state or protecting our DREAMers. We should be looking for ways to empower our treasured new residents - not forcing them into the shadows. Nobody benefits when people live in fear.

Join me in calling for an end to this offensive against refugee and immigrant communities across the country. Sign the petition and send a message to Trump: in America, we look out for one another.
